Summary
For the sake of transparency and readability, I have decided to write a short summary of the full privacy policy that you can read below.
- My business (Nick Lievendag, 3D Scan Expert) is based and registered in The Netherlands
- This website is hosted at Antagonist, a hosting provider with servers in The Netherlands
- This website serves the purpose of being a freely and publicly accessible knowledge base for information about 3D capture technology as well as the content marketing platform for paid service I offer, like consulting, training and speaking.
- You are asked to consent with cookie usage when you first enter the site through a popup in the footer of the website. Cookies are used to store your preference so the popup will not show again.
- This website works completely fine without any cookies. Read how to disable cookies in your browser in chapter 12.
- I use Google Analytics to analyze the behavior of visitors on this website but I strictly send anonymized IP addresses to Google Analytics for this purpose. Google’s servers are based in the USA. Google uses cookies for this.
- This website uses dynamic advertising provided by Google (Adsense) and Amazon (Affiliate). Both companies are based in the USA and use cookies to personalize the ads. If you disable cookies, you will still see ads but they will be less relevant to you. I receive a small fee if you either click an ad from Google or purchase a product on Amazon through an ad or link provided on my website.
- I use Mailchimp for sending my email newsletter. I won’t ask for any other personal details except for an email address. Mailchimp’s servers are located in the USA. You can unsubscribe from my mailing list through the link in the footer of any newsletter. I use double opt-in so only the owner of the email address can use it to subscribe. Cookies are used to store if you have dismissed the subscription popup. I won’t use your email address for anything else than the newsletter, nor will I sell it to third parties.
- You can leave comments under each blog post. Leaving your name, email address and/or website is strictly optional. Your full IP address is stored for the purpose of spam prevention. Your IP address is deleted from the system after 60 days. You are asked to acknowledge this privacy policy before you can submit your comment. Comments will be placed without approval but I retain the right to delete comments for any reason and without notice.
- I often embed or link to content from external websites and services like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Vimeo and Sketchfab in my posts. Their servers may be located outside the European Union and they may use cookies to store preferences or perform analytics.

Accordingly, you should read the relevant laws and guidance from the regulatory authorities for a full explanation of these rights.
8.2 Your principal rights under data protection law are:
(a) the right to access;
(b) the right to rectification;
(c) the right to erasure;
(d) the right to restrict processing;
(e) the right to object to processing;
(f) the right to data portability;
(g) the right to complain to a supervisory authority; and
(h) the right to withdraw consent.

The first copy will be provided free of charge, but additional copies may be subject to a reasonable fee.
8.4 You have the right to have any inaccurate personal data about you rectified and, taking into account the purposes of the processing, to have any incomplete personal data about you completed.
8.5 In some circumstances you have the right to the erasure of your personal data without undue delay. Those circumstances include: the personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or otherwise processed; you withdraw consent to consent-based processing; you object to the processing under certain rules of applicable data protection law; the processing is for direct marketing purposes; and the personal data have been unlawfully processed.
